You’ve probably noticed that Google doesn’t always give you a simple list of websites anymore. Some searches bring up an AI-generated answer before you ever click a link.
For a business owner, that raises a fair question: How do customers find us now?
Google’s AI Overviews and AI Mode can answer questions and link to supporting websites. Google says the usual SEO fundamentals still apply, and there’s no special requirement that guarantees a business will appear in those answers. Google Search guidance
Our advice? Start with what a potential customer needs to know—and make sure your business is ready when they reach out.
Make your website specific.
“Quality service you can trust” could describe almost any company. Tell people what you actually do, where you work, and what happens when they contact you.
A visitor should be able to figure out whether you serve their area, handle their problem, and offer the next step they need.
Try opening your website on your phone. Can you find those answers without hunting through the menu?
Answer the questions customers already ask.
Your everyday conversations are a good place to find useful content.
What affects the price? How long does the service take? What should someone prepare before an appointment? What’s included, and what costs extra?
An article that answers one real question clearly gives customers something useful. Add examples from your own work, explain the exceptions, and avoid promising results you can’t support.
Check what happens after the click.
Imagine someone finds your business, likes what they see, and fills out your form.
Then what?
Does the inquiry reach the right person? Does the customer know it went through? Is someone responsible for following up?
Walk through that experience yourself. Submit a test inquiry, check the notification, and follow it through to the response. If you offer online booking, test that too.
A website can look finished while the steps behind it still need work.
If you run ads, keep watching the results.
Google also allows eligible ads to appear above, below, or within AI Overviews. Placement depends on factors including the campaign, relevance, and Google’s eligibility rules; advertisers can’t choose to run exclusively inside AI Overviews. Google Ads guidance
Before changing your budget, look at what your campaigns are producing. Are inquiries relevant? Are they turning into appointments or sales? Are the ads sending people to a page that matches what they searched for?
Those questions help you decide what deserves more investment.

You don’t have to rebuild everything at once. Start with a service page that needs clearer wording, a customer question worth answering, or a form that needs testing.
At AI Strategies, we focus on how your website, CRM, and follow-up work together. If you’re unsure where to start, let’s talk through how customers find your business and what happens when they contact you.
